Artist Statement
 
I’m Fariba Shafiee (Farsi: فریبا شفیعی), a Los Angeles–based character artist and worldbuilder with a background in architecture. I use multimedia 3D platforms, including video games, to create immersive worlds where present social and political realities converge with speculative futures.
Worldbuilding in my work draws from lived experiences in a surveillance state and the dichotomies of immigration, forming constructed environments shaped by displacement and hybridity.

Each world unfolds around a digital hybrid being, including jinns from Islamic cosmology, healers, or cyborgs, whose presence drives the narrative. Their sense of agency invites connection with both the character and the world.
